Mastermind is a code-breaking game for two players that was invented in 1970 by Mordecai Meirowitz, and has sold over 55 million copies to date.

In the game, one player takes the role of codemaker, and has to devise a secret code of 4 colored pegs (which are hidden from the other player). The other player takes the role of codebreaker, and tries to guess the pattern of pegs. After each guess, the codemaker, gives feedback, which the codebreaker can use to refine their guesses.

After each game, the codemaker and codebreaker swap roles, and the objective of play is, over a series of games, to have solved your opponent's codes in less guesses than he took to solve yours.

Mastermind is principally a game of logical deduction, and is suited for adults and for kids from about age 8 and up.
